I've been thinking about why I liked Brussels so much compared to everywhere else I went on my trip. Amsterdam was just too crazy and I wasn't in the right state of mind, and Luxembourg was nice but not exciting enough. Do I like Belgium only because it's "just right" or because I find it genuinely interesting? I'll probably only find out next time I go there, but I think I was taken by how cosmopolitan Brussels was. My general recount to people has been "it wasn't as white and rich as Germany... It was more mixed so it was more interesting". If I ever learned French, it'd be because of Belgium. And I would like to learn more about the country. I'm interested to find out how it managed to coexist alongside the traditional European superpowers that neighbour it.
Also, I don't know whether you read this, Kristina, and I know you wouldn't like me putting your photos up here but they're really good, and no one reads this anyway, they're not gonna get stolen or anything.
