Liverpool have appointed yet another failed professional footballer-cum-successful manager in Roy Hodgson. It turns out there are many things I did not know about RH (1), (2). For example: his wife is a scouser. He has existed for far longer than his two and a half seasons of wand-waving at Fulham. He's won 6 Allsvenskans and 2 Svenska Cupen in Sweden, a Superliga-Super Cup double at KΓΈbenhavn and he's got to the UEFA Cup final with Inter Milan! He's also managed Switzerland, the UAE and Finland. He "is fluent in several languages including Italian, Swedish and Norwegian. He is also known to speak good German and some Danish, Japanese, French and Finnish". Hopefully he can learn Spanish really quickly and convince Fernando and Javier against doing a runner on us.
So we have a manager. He's no Guus Hiddink but at least we've filled the position as this has an immediate stabilising effect on the club. We need to engage in damage control before we can start thinking about getting out of this hole and back into the top 4. Next on the to-do list: new owners.
Roy Hodgson
