Nothing groundbreaking, but I just think people need to be reminded that to earn the respect of your fellow human being, you have to have and show genuine interest in them.
If you don't, how else will you know them well enough to explain to them they've done wrong by/annoyed/offended you? You will end up saying things like "why didn't you...!?" and they will explain to you why, to which you will only be able to reply "how should/can/do I know?!"
If you don't, you can't know how they react to certain things and it becomes risky making jokes at their expense without offending them, you don't realise how they have changed as a person, you can come across as displaying a blatant lack of genuineness and tact.
