Saturday night at the Quay

5.6.11

Out of paranoia that we'd miss the doors opening, we didn't go to Eating World first (as we had planned), but we did stop off and get $5 boxes from the sushi place near Town Hall station (from where I'd never usually buy sushi thinking about how fresh they can keep the stuff in that stuffy environment). Rory still can't use chopsticks and I found his wooden fork hilarious. I actually got a really good box of sushi... It had unagi, it had caviar, it had the egg one, it had the seaweed one - all my faves!

Yaki Udon from Eating World. That funny shaved thing on the top I thought was mushroom. Interesting texture. I really liked the meat in it. 3 Japanese meals in 48 hours!

I didn't take any photos of the band we actually went out to see (DOM). They originally had two dates, Friday and Saturday, but had to cancel one because they didn't sell enough tix. Gareth refunded one ticket but they actually let him keep it they were so bent on getting tickets out. I had only heard "Burn Bridges" before seeing them and was expecting kinda trendy, loop based electronic influenced indie kinda rock but instead they were mostly actually a straight up rock band. The lead singer kept joking sarcastically that we had to keep it down because more important people were playing next door, told us playing in front of a mirror was more interesting and urged us to stand more still. He was an absolute douchebag and motivated me to not bother downloading any other of their songs.
