Stir stir stir

22.5.11

I forgot to arrange any social activities this weekend and ended up seeing no-one.

Instead, on Friday and Saturday nights I watched the last 10 episodes of the Office season 7.

I like the way the show portrays the fears of never finding someone who loves you back, never pro-creating, not having an impact on the lives of those around you, working just to impress the right people, not being happy with what you were doing with your life at the time of your death. Kristina was right, I love all the characters now.

Besides the Office I also played my first soccer game of the season after not registering for the first 5 or so weeks. It was a 1-1 draw. Our first goal came from a terrible goalkeeping error where a cross from about 35 yards out was lost in the flight. The goalkeeper threw a fist out vaguely towards the ball but only made slight contact with it, not nearly enough to change its goal-bound trajectory. Their goal was equally as shit and came a few minutes later. Our goalie, Con, caught the ball, their striker was slow to get back, Con kicked it into his back, protested that he was trying to block his kick, and then they scored after the referee spoke to the linesman. Later, Will was rightfully shown a red card for a late foul that the opposition player thought had broken his leg. The resultant but wrongly awarded penalty was weak and straight at Mark who had replaced Con at half-time. The follow up should have been buried but Mark dived to save it. Their strikers lost all confidence after that, we created a few chances but were unable to take any, I was having a really good game, lots of fun, pulling the strings in the centre of the park. Good to be back.

Even though I've unsuccessfully tried to get into contact with a few different people I wouldn't say I've not been lonely this weekend. Just a bit stir crazy.

Today I had a Skype call with Claire as she stumbled home drunk from a house party on the other side of the world and broke her bottle of gin in her bathroom.

I literally did nothing for about half an hour before finally deciding to go for a drive purely to make sure the car got driven on the day before Dad gets back and I have to give her up and as a result of having nothing else to do or anywhere I really needed to go.

Lugarno is really nice to drive in... very hilly and swervy. I drove right down to the water, where I'd never been before and it felt like I wasn't anywhere near Sydney.

I found the playground Cass and I used to love as kids, it's right near Karla's house actually. On Moons St/Rd/Ave/etc.

I saw a middle-aged Irish-looking man reading a book whilst sitting on the Oatley clock tower traffic island under the street light. It was an amusing sight.

I'm feeling a bit better after the drive, hopefully I'll get some work done now.
