Fishing report

8.5.11

Thursday the 28th of April, on the tail-end of mid-semester break, was a momentous day. Karla and then Rory got their first tastes of success with the rod after many previous attempts, getting 3 and 2 fish respectively. I once again opened the days account, and rounded out the day with 5 fish. We came to the conclusion that Rory's rod is no use - no fish were caught with it.

Fishing really makes me swear a lot... I get a sense of me vs. them mentality and get all worked up when they steal the bait.

It was a really nice day because there was no one there and half the time it was raining buckets and the other half it was really nice and the sun was out. I was just happy to be out of the house after doing German essay research and watching the Office the previous 2 days.

We went to AMF bowling on the way home because we felt like it. We assumed it'd be dead cuz no more school holidays but it turned out to be packed with Bethany College girls. We got a lane nonetheless and paid only $8 per game which was much cheaper than I was expecting. Rory won the first game and I won the second, with a great strike under pressure on my last turn (I won 95-94!) and then we had a few intense battles on the air hockey table which Rory won more at. We were getting very competitive.

First photo on Rory's iPhone, next 4 from Karla's camera.

Karla and I both caught two of these. Rory caught one, and it was a huge motherfucker.
As I was putting the first fish I caught back into the water, this motherfucker swooped and snapped it up for itself!

I was the only one to catch a fish of this type. I wonder what it is...

I caught two of these, Rory caught one.
