Later, Vicki was in a shit mood so Jess and I climbed the volcano without her. She stayed in the geosciences museum foyer and looked up ghost tours on Jess's iPhone and rested her feet or cooled off, I dunno. We were a little unsure if we'd make it up the top in time before sundown but we did. The 7 year old girl walking down as we walked up said it was easy. There was a family of 3 going up. As we overtook them we heard the Mum complaining about her high heels (a rookie error to start with) and her daughter belittle her saying "Mam, I'm the one who's pregnant, remember?!". We struggled to contain ourselves.
| It was well worth it when we got up there. We could see the entire city. I'm facing roughly westward here but behind me and more to the north in the mist you could see the North Sea. |
