The Sunday night on which I arrived I had Greek for dinner. It was really salty and the sauce was heavily processed.
On Monday night I had Italian which wasn't much better... it was really fake-parmesan-cheesy and also salty.
After these two nights I was feeling pretty homesick... I hadn't had enough time to get to know anyone and I felt so unsatisfied from the food I was providing for myself. I had forgotten so many articles and vocabulary, I wasn't speaking German with confidence.
Tuesday night, we went out to the Altstadt for a drink. I bought a Kebab for dinner. The first decent dinner of the trip!
Wednesday night, Jorge came home and showed me the rice he'd cooked. I got really excited. "I've got this! (broccoli), and this! (carrot), and I just bought these! (mushrooms)". It wasn't great because the rice had to be re-boiled because we don't have a microwave but it was homecooked... a start.
I think I must've dreamed in German or something because all of a sudden I was speaking my more fluently.
Thursday night was Stammtisch and I had pizza for dinner in the Altstadt with Kristina and Katy and Alebe.
Friday night (which was the 7th), I prepared and cooked properly. Spaghetti. Easy, I know, but I was really hungry and pretty happy that I'd managed to cook something I've only watched being cooked before. I put onions and mushrooms and a bit of butter in first with some vegetable oil. Then I did the meat and the sauce. Es schmeckte gut und machte mich befreidigt!
