What I saw today was a despicable display of mindless violence. It took me about 2 hours to properly calm down after it, I was so furious. Matt, Scarlett's dad, #25, the pommie Rockdale winger threw himself at Brownie at speed, two footed and with malicious intent. He went for the player, his studs were up and it all happened about 6 metres from me. It looked like Brown's leg got crushed under the weight, like his femur had been snapped into two. Matt should be banned for life. Witnesses say he had only just declared "I'm going to get someone" before he committed the foul crime.

Matt said to Terry later "there was nothing in that tackle", he was claiming no intent and that it was one footed. The whole thing makes me sick to the core. No remorse for the injury he inflicted let alone his behaviour. The other Rockdale players seemed disgusted, too. They didn't want to play on, willingly forfeited the points.

Rory made a good point: It wasn't as if Matt had been hard done by all game. We hadn't been hacking him, no bad decisions were being given against him, he was just having a sook he wasn't good enough to keep the ball away from Aldo.

It worries me that it's a my word against yours situation and it's not clear how Matt can be banned from playing or charged with assault. Brownie's probably too nice of a guy to press charges, too.

Terry just txtd me saying it doesn't look like a break but "reasonable ligament damage" is a possibility. Wait and see I guess.

Too bad Brownie won't be able to go skiing next week. He's booked to go to NZ for two weeks! I'm wondering about his immediate financial situation as well... He's a tradie of some sort I think.
