A bunch of cushions for comfort, a wheely chair for my legs.
In many ways, 2009 was a building block for 2010.
New projects, new environments, new people:
First year of Uni, first job, finally becoming an adult, and getting my license.
A bunch of firsts and foundations for the future.
Merely the beginnings of ongoing projects.
I've been compiling playlists almost monthly all year
Listening to them brings me back to where I was at the time:
How much have I changed?
How much have I grown?
How much have I achieved?
Where can I go from here?
What can be changed?
How can this be better?
I visualise my present self
In relation to my past and future selves
In the 5th dimension
To navigate my way through
The tangled paths of choices and opportunities.
I'm not going to try and explain it.
It won't make any sense to you.
Farewell, 2009.
Another year setting sail for the land of memories.

Listening to them brings me back to where I was at the time:
Culburra and beach trips with Ryan and Gareth.
Mooloolaba with Rory.
1984.
Sydney Fest Opening Night with Jeremy.
The Big Day Out with Con, Hugh and Gareth.
The lunch-time band at O-Week with Chris.
Failed football season with Rory.
Establishment with Rory, Seamus, Millie and Rosie.
Brunswick and Fitzroy and Horse Bazaar with Marcus, Claire and their friends.
Mornington Peninsula with Rory, Amanda, James, Lauren, Matt and Stephralph.
Morgan, you're in there somewhere. All your parties and MSN convos and stuff ha ha.
Getting more comfy at Uni.
Playing cricket again with the Fegganses.
Becoming a confident teacher of swimming, getting a pay rise.
Playing music with Marcus, Ryan and Gage.
The Metro, Oxford Art Factory, the Annandale Hotel, the Hopetoun Hotel, Newtown Festival seeing a whole raft of acts with varying company.
A bunch of other things.
It's important I write these things down otherwise I'll forget how big 2009 actually was.
"Half Asleep" by School of Seven Bells is my song of 2009.
It's off the first CD I bought back in Jan and
It was a recurring theme throughout the year.
I attach it to so many different things now.
How much have I changed?
How much have I grown?
How much have I achieved?

Farewell, 2009.
Another year setting sail for the land of memories.
I'll take from you what I can and will
And move forward as I now must.
